County board races finalized | Commissioners Handy and Sorenson both have two challengers for their seats in the May election

"Sindi, is an Arabic translator and interpreter. She ran for the county commissioner board in 2008 and has sought other elective positions in local government.

She said helping the homeless, reducing home foreclosures and attracting green jobs would be her top priorities as commissioner. She said she is especially concerned over the fate of veterans who become homeless and would make finding money to help them her first job.

“Most of the homeless are veterans who served our country honorably,” she said.

“Every time a homeless person dies on the street, part of our humanity dies with him.”
