Lane County Commissioner Rob Handy is suing the county over what he says is its refusal to release documents related to allegations that he misused his office.
The suit filed in Lane County Circuit Court seeks an order compelling the county to release the documents and also an award for Handy’s costs and legal fees. No trial date has been set.
County Administrator Liane Richardson said Friday that she had not seen a copy of the suit and could not comment. District Attorney Alex Gardner, who also runs the county attorney’s office, said the county is trying to comply with Handy’s records request but that Handy has asked for a very broad range of possible documents for which the county would have to conduct elaborate and time-consuming computer searches.
